here's a warlord book i've been fine tuning for a while and finally play tested it today (got my first OCTGN win).

the idea here is to use hawkeye and the Bloodwave's battle order "volley" to get a big boost to my range attacks. the golems are there to protect me while I sling my rocks.

the pit and teleport along with the Pillar on the following round worked pretty well as a finisher in the books first game even while being surrounded by two bridge trolls and a bloodcrag.

obviously thoughts on improvement are more than welcome

Cool book love the concentration on attack spellls!!  I would maybe get rid of one golem seems excessive.  Have u had or used all 3 in one match?  Akiros favor maybe useful.  It pairs well with the gloves if you did a round with two attack spells.  I would also think about adding a rust, acid ball to take down high armor.  Stalagmite and invisible fist is also nice to see.  Surging wave is also very useful to have against battleforges or forcemaster/ defenses

Yeah one the golems and the hammer are probably on the chopping block.  Have only gotten 1 golem out actually between two matches (both wins  ;D) and I don't think I'll need ever really need three and if I do it's probably a match I'm winning and unnecessary.

Acid ball comes in and out, seem more action efficient to just use stalagmite when I can throw 5 dice with 3 piercing.  Then again an acid ball or two could be nice against zombies. Will definitely consider the others as well (akiros favor seems to be sorely missing).

I think I would try to add in maybe a forge to let u get equipment on and to use elemental wand, as well as 2 acid balls great against zombies for example and might try to add ballad of courage since removes slow from golem and super good on Minotaur. If u can add 2 since in school.

I have a battle forge ;)
Have added an acid ball since posting the book
As for the ele wand, its currently staying out because the point of this book is to leverage the halberd with my battle commands to gain the range bonus, i have also added a regrowth for the minotaur to help keep him around longer and swapped dig in for Press the attack to gain a melee bonus with halberd as well.
We'll see how it works

Also can the ballad be played on the golems? They're physic immune

Yea ballad does not work on golems unfortunately. One thing u maybe forgetting but you maybe donít care is the only creature that can carry the formation enchantments is the Minotaur and currently you have one.  Not sure how vital that is to you.

Yeah I've noticed that Farkas, heavily considering dropping the kights for butchers for just that reason. Gives the book a little more flexibility

You may want to consider a Steep Hill to give you more of a boost on your Range Attacks. Position it in the center of the Arena and you should have good coverage of the battle field.

Steep hill was in the original iteration of the book but is too mana intensive for what I'm trying to do.

I'll consider it some more but it hard to justify 8 mana for essentially only giving my WL range +1 (no other range units)....however being able to sling 8 dice for 4 mana with a hurl rock is a satisfying thought ;D

made some changes and here is the newest edition of the book, still unsure whether to go with harshforge knights or the butchers but this what we've got otherwise

The OP has gone heavy on the range 0-1 attacks. With short range spells there is a need to keep mobile, and Steep Hill fixes your position. I would suggest replacing some of those range 1s with range 2s, just in case.

I do wonder at the choice of Golems as bodyguards. If the warlord needs to move to fire his spells off, then the Slow of the Golems would get in the way. IF guarding is their primary purpose, then for an extra couple of mana you'd get Sir Corazin, or for less cost you could have Panzergardes with their intercept or (at more SBP) a Temple High Guard.

But hey, if the book is working for you, then don't worry about what we are saying.

The iron golems are in because the original the conception of this book was based around 1) the BW's ranged capabilities 2) the spike pit trap with the iron golems.

Being deadly at range is very good and very helpful but max damage is happening when I can melee, attack spell, clobber with golem.  I also for some reason just really dig the golems and have an impulse to put them in every warlord book.

Having more mobile options is certainly under consideration and the dwarves would be a great choice to that end, but they dont have the offensive potential of the golems.

Idk still trying to figure it out and so far the golems haven't actually seen a lot of use so they could end up on the block.

most recent version of the book updated to the top post. most notable changes are the addition of ballad of courage and subbing the HF Knights for Butchers. also added earthquake due to a recent convo with Farkas on Discord, haven't put it in play yet but am curious about its effectiveness.

the book has been very successful so far winning every match on octgn I've played with it, save for one that we weren't able to finish. I was on my back foot in that one and made a few mistakes, but it was still anyone's match at that point.
what I've enjoyed most about this book so far is that it remains very versatile, yet has a focused strategy. I have been able to provide an answer for most problems sent my way, and have delivered my fair share of tempo swings that have really thrown my opponents off.

anyway, thought I'd give an update for whoever is interested, really enjoying playing this book.

let me know and all that

I won a game with a new deck last week that would give this a great run for its money, I think. Would be happy to test you on octgn.
