I must say I am NOT happy with this card.

Current problem with Academy is that around the end of the game, everything get Weak or Stagger, so few dice are a rolled, which make guarding creatures forever to die.

I have the feeling it will make drag even longer than now.

Card text:

You may make this attack against up to 3 different targets in the same zone. Damage from this attack is critical (ignores armor). Roll for each attack separately.

As far as I can tell, these are 3 separate attacks that you target 3 times one for each missile.

You got it wrong. It allow you make this attack on 1, 2 or 3 targets, not "You may make 3 times this attack [...]".


While we are at it... since this is not a zone attack, +Ranged works on it... but does it only apply to the first target only or the three targets?

But I love the card. Nice Curse for many situations.

This is an awesome card! It allows to get ride of these pesky 5+ infinite defense animals :)

Only Arcane Missiles is unavoidable for the moment and you can only have 2 of them. :P

only a 1/4 chance of killing her, but still a decent amount of damage. You can finish it of with something else.

--> spells like knockdown, surging wave, stunning her... are also a good way to kill her

Which means you spend 2 actions and more mana than your opponent. You are losing the tempo game.

Even with all these restrictions you still keep the naturally strong creatures like the Timber Wolf. He is simply slightly better than the razortusk.



I am still only at letter "I" for the revised list.

Also in Academy the pivot point of mana cost is 7-8-9 mana. 7 mana cards are castable every turn (assuming no mana drain effect). 8 mana cards are castable every turn if you have an amulet. 9 mana cards take 2 turns to cast unless you have both an amulet and the fearie. Can make the difference between winning and losing.

Looks amazing with 4 arms. A quadruplestrike would have been supercool for those hands.

But true: one hurl boulder kills it with a good shot. Or with akiros help. You could make use of knowing this with attaching reverse attack to it.

Hurl Boulder deal at least 9 damage only 24.69% of the time.
With Akiro's Favor, it deal at least 9 damage 43.29% of time.

So spending 8 mana for a 1/4 chance to kill her is not that great and spending 2 actions (at least akiro's will stick around) and 11 mana to have less than 1/2 chance to kill her is still not great.

So she is pretty good.

Oh. Yeah, I would add some.

- Anything rolling natural 5 attack dice or more is a no.
Way too strong when you doublestrike it.

- Giving defense to the mages is a no.
Would make the game to drag on time too much, especially if you start to stack them.

- Anything that remove permanently enchantment/equipment that require quick action is a no.
I noticed that the full action to remove them is a big part of the game. The limited amount of remover is also something.

- Equipment or revealed Enchantment that cost 5 mana or more is a no.
Would be too easy for the wizard to prevent you to ever remove them and they are quite strong for Academy.

- Until they add condition remover, anything that give Tainted is a big no and even then I think Tainted is a too strong effect for the limited hp of Academy.


There are probably others, but that's it for the moment.

I noticed that the scabbard of the Paladin is neither large enough nor long enough (it should continue up to behind his left ankle) to hold the sword...

Same thing for the trident of the siren, I think we should see some part of it behind her knee...

With this perspective, looking at your 8 principles, would you edit/change any? or are they all good with the devil in the detail?

General Discussion / So I played my first 8 Academy games

So yesterday I played for the first time Academy and I played 8 games. Here are my conclusions:

- IT IS AMAZING! It gives the feeling of Arena when everyone are in the same zone for the final confrontation and it is all about managing guards and attacks and denying your opponent the opportunity to do what they really want to do. I am loving it.

- Tarraki is "overpowered". Currently there is only 2 source of unavoidable attacks. Tarraki and Arcane Missiles. Once Tarraki is fully buffed (only require 3 cards), it has 8 hp, 1 armor, infinite defense of 5+ (only 33% chance to hit him), regenerate 1 and 4 dice attack. Also he is elusive, so basically, he hit whatever he want to hit. You can also have a Giant Size on him to prevent any sudden death and add extra damage. Since he is Legendary, you can't get out a Tarraki to kill it and Arcane Missiles won't kill it either with only 2 dice. And if you try to waste normal attack against him, the opponent will win.
TL;DR: Spells similar to Arcane Corruption to deal with alot of buff on a single creature need to make their appearance in Academy ASAP.

- I have no doubt in Priestess vs Warlock will bring ways to remove condition, but this need to be added to Academy ASAP too. When everything get weakened or staggered, games start to get very slow because everything roll only 1 attack dice.


I can't wait for more cards to be added to get more customization to spellbooks, but even with the limited card pool right now I think I prefer Academy to Arena.
