Sheriff on TableTop
« on: February 05, 2015, 03:09:04 PM »
I was watching the Sherrif of Notingham on Tabletop and I believe at the 31:15 Wil Wheaton Cheats.

He claims 3 apples, but is caught with 1 apple, 1 chicken and one Rye. He then pays 7 to the sheriff, and keeps the apples and Chickens

So I thought the "good" goods had to be the same. And since he was busted with 2 different goods shouldn't he lose the chicken?

and why would he have paid 7, the Rye was only 4 and the chicken was 2.

On Tabletop they're most concerned with giving a great experience, which I felt the episode did. It was a blast watching Wil and friends really get into the spirit of Nottingham.

In the situation you pointed out, yes he would have had to get rid of his chicken as he did not call it. The penalty on that should have been the 6, 4 for the Rye Bread and 2 for the Chicken. I'm sure that this was a simple oversight on Wil's part and not cheating. They were clearly having a blast and that is after all why we play games, to have a good time.

I was mostly making sure that I understood it right.

also it appears that they skip the "trade step" where we discard cards and draw back up to 6.

I'm pretty sure they just cut that out.  There is a time when Ashley does that toward the end of the game.

Also, did I miss something or did Ashley say she had 4 bread on the last round and pull out 5 cards?  That's against the rules, isn't it?

The number you declare must be the exact number that is in your bag. It's possible that she misspoke in her excitement to try and win.

There were a few small mistakes but again, this is something that makes the game look very fun and engaging to someone not introduced to the hobby or the game yet. I am very happy with it overall... also, I don't think anyone "really" cheats... we just all tend to make play mistakes from time to time.

I also think that the only reason I caught it, was because I've ran so many demos of this game and played it so much. Someone who has never played it most likely wouldn't have caught it.
