General Discussion / Re: OCTGN

I have also recently restarted playing. So far new books only, so I also need some who can teach me and play casual games.
Is there a Facebook group or similar to use to find players  and agree upon time slot?

Hope to play you on OCTGN!

Sure! Maybe you can give me the crash course then? I played a few games over a year ago, but I have forgot everything by now.  :o
Available this coming weekend? I'm at CET, so we have to adapt the time diff.

Where do I find the latest image pack? The one used by Arcane Duels with the PvS stuff?

Edit: Never mind. As always after you have looked for a while and posted here you find it.

The copies that were sold at Gen Con were all air frieghted in, whereas the release product was shipped through normal channels. It takes a while for the product to get to the United States and then be processed by our fulfillment center. That is all proceeding as we'd normally expect. I certainly want the product out as soon as possible, but right now there isn't anything I can do to speed up that process.

So, I'm aware of the concerns and I share them. PVS represents almost a solid year of my life. I hope you believe me when I say I want it in everyone's hands.

I'm not sure what coverage you would have wanted for PVS after Gen Con. The set had been almost completely spoiled before the event, so continuing spoilers seemed unhelpful. At the end of the day I want to be able to communicate cleanly with all of you. So, please let me know your thoughts, and remember nothing turns on a dime and just because we're presented with an idea doesn't mean it will necessarily get adopted.

I don't blame anyone, especially not you Aaron .
What I believe, think, and have heard though is that it was a mistake to release the product at GenCon so many weeks prior to the propper release. I think a lot of the MW fans out there really felt the spark kicking in again during the spoliers. Now that momentum feels lost again.
I strongly believe it would have been better to do the whole marketing campaign and spoliers once AW were able to feed the bigger crowd. Looking back, Essen would have been a much better option in my eyes.

I was just letting people know that if their local store didn't have it, then that's not a problem, yet.

I'm not so sure I agree. To me this is a problem. As mentioned before, the whole set were announced several weeks ago along with spoliers. Since then...nothing... I would even say this is devastating for the game. This should have been the big revenge after years with nothing. The buzz was there again after the spoliers, but now I hear nothing and no one has been able buy it yet...

Sorry if I will ruin the party now...but what about us who can't attend GenCon (like us European's for example)? When will we be able to get hold of these cards?

I know it has been told that there should be promos for everyone ordering the first wave in the past, but I have never seen any. Got some sent to me by the amazing Alfiya, but in the last sets I haven't bothered.

Laddinfance, will these be in the Lost Grimoare later this year?

Whirlpool and Tsunami would be great. I wonder if Aaron can do something about that  ::)

A zoom water attack that leaves (let you play for free) a Shallow sea behind!

I don't play competitive or at OCTGN enough to have something to say in this, but to me these changes are exactly what this game needed to get out of the wizard-and-tower-in-every-book-meta. I really looking forward to see what the community will come up with now.

Besides that, which I haven't seen been discussed in here yet, is that this will open up for future arcane & fire/earth/water mages. Now that slot isn't shut anymore. That to me is very interesting with this change.

If I could choose one feature except addition of all the new card it would have been an: First-4-turns-opening-counter, where you can visually perform your first 4 turns and it shows how much mana you have spent, where you are positioning, and what cards you have in play.

Do I see power creep?
I hope so, that will make the game a bit faster and I don't mind that.
Knight of the Red Helm...mmmm...

Humm... Felt like you all misunderstood my intention with the type 2 idea.

I never wanted to say I would like MW go down that path. Furthermore, make MW a collectable card game is the worst thing that could happen.

No, my thinking was more feel based. A way (not saying how) to make the card pool more manageable both for new players and play testers / designers. As it is now it could be overwhelming and big step to take for a new player to buy in on everything that is out already.

My thoughts were more like releasing a core set 2,  as my type 2 thought, with all the "good" / played cards + released mages in it. Something AW don't have to develop, and something new players could by and almost get everything in (and base their future investment in MW at). This core set could also be updated based on future expansions, to keep up its "hotness".
Just one thought of mine.

SvP exites me too.
My fear is that it only ignite the spark for those who once had it. In my mind the bigger picture is more important, how to make the game hot again. I would love to hear AW strategy there.

I was no fan when MtG introduced type 2 (that's why I quit playing), but I now realize a few amazing things with it like;
- New players are not as intimated starting playing
- Easier / less play testing.
- Phase out of wrongly designed cards.

I'm not saying MW should do this, but I think something else then just pushing out more cards is the way to go.
Maybe some kind of semi type 2 idea.
