Hi!! I u.sually play in a small group of friends... Like 3... And this game is too good to not spread around... Anyone up for casual games in san diego?
Im actually from tijuana Mexico... But crossing to san diego relativly managable.. About 2 hour drive to downtown SD...or.much less...!

Spells / Doubt on Animate Dead

Hope this is te right section to coment...
The spell, animate dead... Those it summon the creature with its action marker ready? Im guessing no?... Since its being summoned, entering  the arena and every creature enters the arena inactive (xcept or talos)... Any help? You win a virtual smile if so.

Hi!!!... So do you like the warlord... anvil throne of course :v... i dont know the orc warlord look a bit too green for me :p... he is like the hulk... well that could be cool... anywaaay...

Here i have 2 spellbooks...kinda... 2 in 1... so ive been playing games and since i dont have spelltomes i tend to lack cards to build multiple spellbooks... or sometimes i just really want to build a necromancer or warlord deck but dont want to carry one book and then disamble to create the other... so i came up with this.. ¨system¨... basically start building the core of the deck... the difference between the 2 i want to build... and count the points... and after y try and build the other.. with exactly the same amount of points... and after that..i finish them both with cards that work for both books...

here my first example (yes...there will be more):

This is my Anvil Throne Warlord 2 in 1- Talos and his ¨Dwarven Buddies/Goblin Slaves¨

Its 90spell points base... the base is shared between the books... and 30 points of the core.. that way you can put all 90 points in your spell book.. and just swap between the other 30... i usually leave those 30 points of cards in the last easily swap-em

1x Gurmash, Orc Sergeant (He is just a big Goblin... he thinks he is an orc, he wants to believe it...just because he is ashemed of his Goblin Parents...So he now leads the group of slaves into battle)

So for both Books I start

Turn 1:
Barracks and Construction Yard... thats your 19 mana start... position of the outpots will depend on your oponent... but most likely you will have to move... to prepare for turn 2... You need to keep on eye for Outpost Placement restrictions

Turn 2:
Archers Watchtower + ?

Here they separate... with goblins you might want to start the swarm oriented approach... with dwarfs you can do nothing on turn 2..and turn 3..summon from barracks -Grimson Deadeye, Sniper- and support him...

Both Decks i try to Damage, Distract and Defend....While I prepare Talos... If they go for the Altar or outpost.. you Damage the mage or kill the creatures... if they go for your creatures... Distract by placing the altar wich they have to attend.. or else... and if they go for you mage... Defend under your rocks...

Altar of Carnage is lovely with Goblin Slaves
Watch Towers are great with Dwarven Buddies

Mid Game you stop the minion production and concentrate on Armor and Healing if your mage took damage...

Conquer those Wizzard Towers and Battleforges...

Hi :3
Its been some time since ive posted... so ill go ahead leave this here...
Its a beatdown warlock deck... built with the core set + forged in fire...

Theres room for work and you can try and adapt it to your style.. maybe swap adramelech for sardonix...
or get in there a battleforge...

As for how to use it... I usually go for first turn Enchanters Ring + Cheeta Speed... and after that... Necropian Vamp or Adramelech... Very Much inspired of the  "Lord of Terror Bashcon Beatdown Build" by Piousflea... wich i suggest you go and read... its pretty well done... and gives you a great idea of how to work around different situations...

In this build, I swap the Dark Pact Slayers for the pretty new Blood Demos from Forged in Fire... They seemt o survive a bit better having the vampiric trait on their attacks..and when made Blood Reapers with the Warlocks Abbility... can get up to +3Melee.. swinging at 6 dice... just as the Blood Reaping Dark Pact Slayers... although they have piercing... soo.. up to you...

Sersyrix... is lovely... :3
Also if you do go for the Sardonix way... let me suggest Altar of Sacrifice...because:

1- Its one of the only ways to buff Sardonix (cant think of the others right now, other than marked for death on a target)... Since Sardonix is NonLiving he cant get bearstrengh and many other enchantments...

2- Its a good way to kill sardonix if you yourself are dying and cant handle the -2 Life each Turn..

3- He is level 8... 8!... that means.. Sacrificing him in the altar will give the creature of your choice +8 Melee and + 8 Piercing... use them well... make sure the attack will go in... no defenses... guards... or blocks... try and quickcast the altar right before using he doesnt know its comming...

Rules Discussion / Chain Lighting... and +2 Lightning first target?

ok so i did this...

Wizzard Casts: Chain Lightning,
Hawkeyes=+1 to Ranged
Ring of Electric Malfunction thingy.. (thats not the actual name... but ,,yeah)+1 To Lightning Ranged/Melee Attacks


Broooooo-Gan Fratboy Angel.. (Not the actual name... talking about Brogan Bloodstone) +2Lighting Trait.

Brogans Conducting Armor=+2

=9 Attack Dice... It hits.. deals X damage...

What happens now?.. if theres a target.. in them.. my question is... how many attack dice now?... is it 8? or does the bonuses get lost?

A) Next Target Get hits with 8 atkdice (Full bonuses)
B) Next Target Get hits with 4 atkdice (No Bonus)
C) Next Target Get hits with 6 atkdice (Not caunting the bonus for brogans +2Lightning Trait)

In my game, it made sense to pick A... wich makes some interesting strategic decisions into wich target do you hit first with chain lighting... trying to use your first target as an amplifier...for some --ll Warning. Lame Pun ll--... For some.. Shocking Results  8)

Alternative Play / Apprentice Level 2

Hello :)

So im a new player of magers, an apprentice mage :3, playing in advance mode D: ... just got my first core set, been playing a lot, and starting teaching some friends to play, some have experience with other games, TCG, OCG or just some type of board game, and each type of friend (types of friends lol) got some of the mechanics of Mages Wars faster than other mechanics... Some of them had 1 game with apprentice mode decks, and could jump on to the normal/advance mode with relative ease...just had to familiarize with some terms... Others took a bit more time...

So im trying to create a "Level 2 - Apprentice Mode, or Junior Mage :P ...

Redoing the the apprentice SpellBooks, adding some more variaty in the cards, and some mechanics for them to deal with, like conjuratinons, wich only the beastmaster had... (in apprentice SpellBooks)...

So here it is:


-These are only Core Set Mages
-These are all 70 Point SpellBooks, keeping in mind rules for SpellBook Creation
-I tried not to include cards that give actions : Spawnpoints - Familiars
-Also Avoided BIG BIG Creatures, for exampe, Adramelech, Valshalla, Sosruko (Big in heart <3)
-Basic Conjurations, based on the overall them of the deck (mostly a Wall and some other cheap Conjuration)
-Tried to give decks variaty so they could start thinking in different plays and uses for cards.

Priestess: Restore or Divine Reward

And thats all i think... im about to test it out... any ideas? any recomendations? any cookies?

omg omg omg, i got my core set :D ...
i only played the game with my boyfriend, did not have the game myself... and then started playing on octgn... but finally i got my core set :D ... now its time to get those expansion 8)

So... celebrating... I tried doing a version of my ManlyWarlock Spellbook... but using only the core set... so here it goes:

Basically its Warlock+Big Creatures=Smashing the face of the opposing mage, not very swarm oriented... maybe a bit of curse based control... mostly fun :3

3rd Update :)

The Manly Warlock
If you stick the the "Golden Rule" you may enjoy this deck greatly...
Basic idea is to walk to your opponent... and start punching him in the gut... if he turtles...start raining firestorm to knock on his door, ask for nice chat :3... if he doesnt welcome you... kick the door down and start the hurtin...

As you punch your pentagram will start to feed of the enemy blood... and soon a nice chat, will turn into a party with your blood reaper... or bring in the dog... This game is won by takin down the mage... not the creatures... keep in mind...

Stay in your opponents face all day... if he punches back... enjoy it!... theres no room for fear in this deck... (unless its helm of fear)...

Damage Level:

38=      Game over, you faught well :')
25-37= If you dont have ways to heal... give up on defense, start full rage manmode (manmode is not the same than stupid mode, punch smart)
19-25= You need to drain and vamp
7-19=   The Fight is Starting, enjoy the rush...
1-7=     Fight hasnt even started... damage? what damage?

How to use spells? (At least how do i use them)

Attack Spells
Save them to either Finish off a creature that could get healed, Finish off Flayers or creatures with Defense

Conjuration Spells
Testing Altar for now... Pentagram was removed

Creature Spells
I would highly go against summoning a creature as my full action... hold on to you creatures untill pentagram is ready, i usually summon a Pact Slayer with BloodReaper First...followed by either Adramelech or Doggie (Werewolf :P )

Enchantment Spels
Try to bait ot despells... early magebane, chains of agony on mage, poison blood mid game...and later on second poison blood, asumming the first one got dispelled... Set a vampirism asap and just let it attached un revealed on your mage untill u actually need it... (usually i consider myself in need... when im over 15dmg...)

Incantation Spells
Drain life to finish of a creature, to finish of a mage... remember.. Its DIRECT DAMAGE... <3 (Good luck on your rolls xD 5 dice can mean 10 dmg... or 0)
